Congratulations to our 2013 Hall of Fame Raffle Winners, Filip (K), Jack (4th), and Connor (1st). They each won a custom T-shirt featuring their favorite piece of art from their art portfolio on Artsonia. Learn more about our Hall of Fame Raffle here. Your participation in Artsonia makes our online art gallery a fun place for our students to share their artwork, write artist statements, practice digital citizenship by writing kind comments to others, and view evidence of growth and learning over time. Students learned to write kind and encouraging comments to fellow Dryden Artists. (See our internet safety fugleflick.) We tried to find students who didn't have many comments on their artwork yet so they could experience the fun of participating onArtsonia. Participation is really the key to making our Artsonia experience fun. When a student has fan club members they get an email for each newly published piece of artwork. The hope is that they will comment and encourage the young artists. These comments are then approved by the parents who then share them with the child. When every piece of this network participates, the young artists are encouraged and motivated to do their best! We visually filled a bucket as we metaphorically filled buckets with our encouraging and kind comments online. Every time a student wrote a comment they put a letter in the bucket to symbolize how they are filling up the spirits of the people they write to. This metaphor is based on a book called: Have you Filled a Bucket Today? The third graders not only filled this bucket but I had to pull out a large vase, and create an over flow area! We counted out the pieces at the end of class and applauded their efforts to share kind words with others. We hope that the parents take a moment to approve and share these comments with their young artists.
