We were so fortunate to have Mrs. Sessler teach an origami lesson to each of the fourth grade classes. She shared about her Japanese heritage, showed us her mother's artistry, told the story of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, and lead all the students through the steps to make an origami paper crane.  This was such a meaningful experience for all our students. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and culture, Mrs. Sessler!

When Japan suffered from an earthquake an tsunami in 2011, Dryden Students joined Students Rebuild to show we cared with paper cranes.

Origami with Marco

Third graders asked if they could spend their last day of art class doing origami. Marco volunteered to teach us all how to make an 8 point ninja star. We used the class' iPevo camera to demonstrate the small folds as Marco very patiently led his classmates through this challenging origami lesson. I was so impressed with Marco's teaching methods that he won the highly coveted Enthusiastic Teacher Award at the end of class.
