Saturday night was the District Variety Show to raise money for ABC/25 , our district's grant foundation. Teachers, support staff, administrators (current and past) took the stage to sing, dance, act, do magic, and perform on their instruments. It's always fun to see the live performances by people showing talents we don't regularly see in the classroom.  Dryden staff and students put a video together for this occasion to celebrate our dedication to our students and the Common Core. View Common Core Crazy below.

Dot Weber returned to the district's V-show stage (tiara and all) after having retired as superintendent 14 years ago. She looked and sang as if she had never left.
I was on stage with her 14 years ago performing Joni Mitchell's, Big Yellow Taxi along with Dryden staff members dancing and playing instruments while dressed in overalls and plaid. I also was one of the three Hee Haw Honeys who did comedy continuity in between acts. (It was a country themed V-show.) I remember that a week before the show my boyfriend had proposed. I flashed my engagement ring and gave a wave to my fiancé during my comedy skit. I was flooded with all these happy memories as I sat in the audience next to my husband of almost 14 years watching Dot once again.

Below (or click here) is a montage of a couple acts you just have to see!

AHSD25 hosted a District Staff Variety Show to raise money for ABC/25 Foundation. Some of my talented colleagues joined me in a live performance of the original song, I AM ART as the Fuglefollies Interpretive Dance troupe. You'll hear us sing and watch us "dance" to this song about art. Featuring, Len Deptula, Joe Robinson, Danielle Porte, Kathy Riesing, and myself. (Normally, we do have faces...)
This song was originally written for the award winning I AM ART video created by 5th graders at Dryden in 2010-2011. Watch this video here: vimeo.com/16278783

Quiz Question: What 5 art pieces do we reference with our poses at the end of each chorus?
(Please respond in the comments).
Here is a cast photo from behind stage. (Now you can see that we have faces.)

Last year a group of talented 5th graders made a super cute music video called I AM ART.
This film was recognized with a first place shortie award in Washington D.C.
When I heard about the District Staff V-Show to raise money for our ABC/25 foundation, I suggested to Dryden teachers that we do our own audio recording and live performance of this song. It ended up being something like a Saturday Night Live musical skit. Come and see for yourself:) Learn more about attending the V-Show here.
