This entertaining short video tells my students exactly what my expectations are as they enter the art room. But here is what makes it so great...the kids tell are telling (while singing and dancing) the rest of my student population what to do. Hopefully they listen!
Making a movie is an amazing opportunity for learning. Students sang, recorded, storyboarded, planned, framed shots, rehearsed, coached, filmed, imported, edited, all while making collaborative decisions. Take a look at our in progress website to sing-a-long with the karaoke version and lyrics.
****UPDATE**** Now you can watch the Behind the Scenes Video below and see for yourself how fun creating can be!
This year our art students at Dryden are partnering with students in three other schools with art galleries on Artsonia to share encouraging messages and positive feedback on student artwork. We called them our "Comment Buddies". Take a look at the kind words from Dryden students that have reached Brunswick Acres Elementary School in New Jersey.
Here are links to our Comment Buddy Schools below.
Try sitting down with your child and practice Being Kind Online by helping them write kind comments to young artists in other schools.

Lowes Island Artists: bit.ly/q4U7sP (Virginia)
Greenbrook Artists bit.ly/nnm0dr (New Jersey)
***Parents: Don't forget to check (approve) your child's comments on Artsonia. They may be getting a message from a comment buddy too! Use this tutorial to help you get started.
You're going to be amazed more by the process (though the product is super cute too!)
Listen to what the kindergartners were able to do on their iPads over the past few weeks in art class: Students spent 3 class sessions trying to learn how to turn on their wireless signals in their setting on iPads, find my website to download their snowman template, import it into the Brushes App, add a layer over the image, choose their brush sizes and colors, digitally paint these adorable snowman accessories, and email me their finished work!
Make sure you congratulate these amazing digital artists! (Hopefully the other classes go as well this week.) See the whole gallery as it grows here.
