2 Finalists in Contest via NextVista.org

Dryden entered three movies in the latest NextVista.org student video contest. Two of them were chosen as finalists. One, Paper Cut Magic was chosen as a finalist in the collaboration category (Congrats Sofia and Lindsay!) Below is the shortened version of their story, Strange Magic. You can view the whole version and my post about it here.

The third movie must have been submitted improperly. I meant to submit it into the collaboration category since it was made with Mr. Sobota's whole class of 4th graders. It will not be in the running for a prize, but was awarded an honorable mention. Learn more about his super cool all class lip sync rotoscope animation project from my post.

Scoring Rubric

One thing that might be fun to do is watch each video in each category (collaboration and teacher) with the rubric in mind. Give the movies a score based on the criteria and predict who you think will score the most post.

FYI: Our movies earned the bonus 2pts for entering early. However, we don't have a way of knowing if the other movies earned it as well.

Tricia has been recognized for her innovative teaching in 2010 with the PBS Teachers Innovation Award, won Illinois Art Teacher of the Year in 2011, awarded Teacher of Distinction in 2012 by the Golden Apple Foundation, received Western Region Elementary Art Teacher of the Year 2013, selected to become a Jacobs Educator 2014-15, was presented with the NAEA Art Technology Outstanding Community Service Award in 2016, honored with the ISTE Teacher Educator Network Tech in Action award, 2018, and won an Art Education Leadership Award via Artsonia in 2019.
