I always look for authentic audiences for my Fugleflick filmmakers to share their student-created art-related movies with beyond our school community. This year I was able to use Filmfreeway to enter movies into national and international children's film festivals. Some of these are too far away to attend, however, knowing that other children will have a chance to see the movies is still an amazing experience and acceptance into these festivals is validation that the quality of the film is on par with the best movies made by children around the world!
With the help of over a dozen supporters making generous donations to my Donor's Choose professional development grant, I was able to attend the National Art Education Conference in Boston. Thank you to the Dryden parents, teachers from my online personal learning network on twitter, and art teacher colleagues from around the country who donated!
First graders were introduced to Rembrandt through a 15 minute portion of the Greatest Artists Video. We looked at how he painted people showing emotions. Then we used this handout below to see a simplified contour line drawing of a face and matched it to Rembrandts' faces by emotions.
