Fifth graders are working on a three step project on the iPad. First they are doing a figure drawing of themselves in a flying pose using Brushes Redux on the iPad. They draw over a digital template to help them create correct proportions. Then they delete the template and color on a layer below. See the quick play back video of my drawing steps below. This lesson is inspired by the book, Tar Beach, by Faith Ringgold. In the story a little girl flies over the city where she lives. After we read the story, students considered why they would be flying over their city. Their outfits and objects in their hands will help them tell their story later. The second step of this project is a city scene. The third step is an animation where they use their figure to fly over the city scene using the DoInk Animation app on the iPads. |
