Creating with Keynote on your Mac

I'll be teaching a few sessions at D25's Tech Academy on August 16th about using Keynote software on a Mac to make creative projects. I decided to put everything attendees need to work through the ideas I want to share in the session with examples, directions, and resources in this ONE KEYNOTE FILE (50mbs). Resource: The Internet was Created for Good

My students made this PSA video on how to use the internet for good as their entry into an online student contest. They came in 2nd place nation-wide. The entire movie was animated using Keynote. See if you can identify the different builds and actions used.

Resource: I AM ART

This Fugleflick, I AM ART, was made using keynote animation with green screen effects in iMovie. It's an awesome resource for introducing categories of art to students.

Resource: Careers in Art

Careers in Art, winner of Nextvista.org's video of the year in 2011, was animated using keynote. The photos were outlined by the technique shown here and the intro was a cool discovery I explain in this tutorial.

Presenting a session on Digital Making

The week before school began I participated in our district's Tech Academy. This is a chance for staff to teach each other tech related tricks, tips, tools, and projects. I did a presentation called Digital Making where I share as many ideas from my stash of 165+ digital art ideas as I could in the 50 minutes allotted. Below are images from sessions I attended.

Sketchnoting: I learned to make containers to help give structure to skechnote and actively helping students build their visual libraries. My take away was seeing a connection between sketchnoting and visual literacy: can others understand what you are sharing? Learn more from @heckawesome

Breakout Edu: I learned that it's a puzzle game with clues that "forces" students to work together, learn or be exposed to content to get new clues, and try some active problem-solving. Learn more from @kathleencorley

Personalized Font: I attended a session full of tips and tricks introducing many things I didn't even know existed. One thing that caught my fancy was paintfont.com which allows you to invent your own font. I went through the steps that evening and made my own here. Learn more from @kaitlinfajks

Creating on iPads workshop

This was my fifteenth year of either attending or presenting at my district's tech academy. This has always been a valuable venue for hands on technology learning and exploration. This is where I first learned to build a website, edit a movie, export a document, and build a slideshow. I owe a big thank you to District 25 for years of training!

Below are some of the projects we explored in my Creating on iPads Workshop. We used my website as a guide for resources, but again found that 2 hours wasn't enough time.

We entered the Crown Fountain and gave it a reflecting pool. Click to see this lesson.

We downloaded by collaborative art template and each drew a section of a figure to learn the drawing tools. Find my template on the Creating on iPads page.

We creating dramatic quotes using camwow and pic collage. Click to see the lesson.

We tried a creativity project with clouds.

We drew over the cloud of our choice to show what we see in it. Then shared our drawing with AirServer
