
I thought about it for a minute and said, when it becomes popular enough to be recognizable. One way you can tell that a piece of art is famous is because it found its way to the popular culture as a spoof.
How would you answer this?
My fourth graders are preparing to create a spoof of Grant Wood's American Gothic.

Have you seenthis sculpture by Seward Johnson? This was installed for a while by the river in Chicago for almost a year before it traveled to its next destination.
I saw later in Dubuque, Iowa outside the art museum that housed many of Grant Wood's original painting. Seward Johnson has a sculpture garden in New Jersey that features many sculptural interpretations of paintings. It's a great place to visit (like Disney World for art fans.) P.S.
