Creating Caricatures then animating them as bobbleheads

I have a step-by-step powerpoint of how to teach students to turn themselves into a caricature here. You might want to introduce the concept of caricatures with this student made video featuring their art and voice. We tied this lesson to Character Education in the video, but the animation could translate into many ideas.

Extend the idea

Here is an other twist on this bubblehead project. I added the Cat-in-a-hat book cover and hat to the DoInk animation. I could have combined the hat and head in superimpose and flattened them into one image, however I added it as a separate layer and had it move with the head following it's path. I have a post here where you can grab my book cover template and cat-in-the-hat bow tie, nose/whiskers, and hat. It also has other Read Across America ideas.

I received this tweet from an art teacher who tried this lesson with her students. I wanted to include it here to encourage my students to always try your best since you never know how far and wide your work may travel.

Your ideas never cease to amaze me! I LOVE this! I'm struggling with trying to find apps that are FREE for loading on student ipads that will do similar work to the ones you use. I don't mind paying-I think they're worth it but our district just doesn't have a great way for using paid apps yet. I'm addicted to all your social media so I don't miss a post or tip or new idea like this! Thank YOU for sharing your work!

Just stumbled across your website today and am so jazzed to have found it!! This is where I want to be in a few years (when I have a few digital lesson plans under my belt) when I can transition from elementary art and pick up either in middle school or high school digital art.
