Color Mix and Mingle Game

I've been inspired by the interactive techniques I saw and experienced at the ISTE conference to try to stretch a bit and design more interactive educational games for my students. The first day of school is a great day to get up and play since we haven't started the making art yet, so I plan to begin this year with a game I'm developing called, "Color Mix and Mingle."

What you'll need:

This game can be played with K-8th grade.
Make a class set of color badges or name tags with equal numbers of RED, YELLOW, BLUE, PURPLE, ORANGE, AND GREEN. (4 of each=24 total)
Use the images in the slideshow below to guide students through the stages of the game
Make some space for students to get up and move

I went with CD Sleeves (since I had a whole bunch left over) with construction paper, hole punches, and yarn. I labeled each card to help students who might have color blindness

The downloadable pdf is such a great cheat sheet. However discovering the Chinese Restaurant clapping rhyme was a bit offensive – the one you featured is pretty innocent but upon Googling the original version, I can’t believe people are still doing this one!
