What is childhood without magical snowfriends that come to life and take you sailing across wintry night skies? I love The Snowman Story and share it with my k-5 students as often as I can. This clay snowman lesson using only one lump of clay to concretely teach students about division. If you follow along, there is magically no clay remaining. 

Theseadorable snowfriends are inspired by the illustrations of Raymond Brigss. The lesson demonstrates color pencil shading for highlights and shadows.

I also created an animated book cover to dazzle my students before I showed them The Snowman, by Raymond Briggs.
This design comes to life with music, falling snow, as the snowman blinks and smiles.
