iPad Artist Statements

Most of 5th grade were on a field trip which left me a tiny little group for art. So, I thought we would experiment with an iPad lesson that I have been working on for the past week. I have taught this High Contrast Artist Statement Lesson for a few years now using the posterize effect in photoshop and layering text in Keynote. You can download my lesson plan in TPT here. Over the weekend I experimented with different ways to accomplish this all in the iPad.

Here is how we did it.
After ideas were formulated using our brainstorming sheet we:

1. Open Camwow and find the black/white high contrast effect

2. Take a photo (free version leaves a watermark on the left side so position face on right)

3. Save to camera roll

4. Open Pic Collage

5. Set the background to black

6. Bring in the photo and clip it to eliminate the background and watermark

7. Add text for your profound statement.

8. Add text for your signature (Keeping these text boxes separate allows for you to size them differently.

9. Save to camera roll 

10 Email work or upload directly to Artsonia via the free app!

Use this layout of image and text as a reference or inspiration for this project. The quote can be anything including stating curricular content, classroom rules, belief statements, advice for younger students, opinions, or other deep thoughts.
