As we were finding our seats and settling in for the festival, I ran into Rushton Hurley, the founder of NextVista.org. He was instrumental in pointing me to this film fest last year. I always look for ways to give our Fugleflicks a larger audience, and Next Vista has been a favorite way to amplify our students' voices. Do the Dryden Dos had won first place in the Fall contest, so he was very familiar with the video and recognized the girls. I introduced them to Mr. Hurley who showered them with praise and congratulations.

Do the Dryden Dos won the middle age category.
We heard that this was the most competitive category with the most entries.
After the festival, the organizers approached me with a 20 lb bag of glass trophies for the other 10 filmmakers that were unable to make the trip to the festival. Each trophy is engraved with the filmmaker's name. They are an amazing treasure and reminder of how working to activate change in our school community can foster opportunities beyond.

Presenting our art + tech program

Connecting with teachers at #ISTE19
I was able to jump into two playground sessions where a I could share my art/tech ideas using both of the Do Ink iPad apps. I made connections with fellow twitter folks, administrators, tech facilitators, and teachers from across the country and world. My biggest hope is that some of the ideas and techniques I shared will make a positive impact with their students in their learning environment.
