Digital Extension: Create it digitally
I wrote up a post already about how you can do this whole lesson on the iPad with the help of Wooden Doll app. See the post and much more here. |
Digital Warm Up Drawing:
I decided to do a digital warm up between the drawing stage and the painting stage so students could see the effect of complementary colors next to each other and test to see if their figure drawings were shapes that could be filled with color. Students took a photo of their sketch with their iPad in the camera app. Then then used the DoInk Animation App and opened up a new drawing. In the layer tab at the top they used the camera icon to bring in the sketch. Then they scooted the sketch to the bottom layer and made the drawing layer above it active (turns light blue). They chose a paint brush (size 6) and black color to trace their artwork. When they were finished they either deleted the photo layer or moved the opacity to transparent. Then, they used the pour bucket to fill the positive space with a primary color and the negative space with its complement. |
