Quilling with Ms. Koob

3rd graders practiced making coils of paper to try their hand at Quilling

"Each week I have my students reflect on their learning for the week and they have to share at least one thing they learned. At least 5 of my students wrote about learning how to quill. Ms. Koob, our student teacher in art class, designed a quilling lesson based on the abstract art of Kandinsky. Students will learn the technique of quilling, become familiar with the artwork Squares with Concentric Circles, learn to build a collaborative piece of art as they combine their squares at the end of the project. Students began by practicing making coils and built a mini quill design. These were displayed together in one collaborative space. We created a time-lapse of one class working on coils and taking turns adding their piece to the collaboration. Watch them below.
