Learning to draw realistically:
Second graders are learning how to map out a face, measure for the place and size of each feature, and look closely at each line as they draw a contour line drawing of George Washington in a three-quarters pose. Their portrait is based on the painting by Gilbert Stuart who sat in front of George Washington to paint. His accuracy helps all future generations know what the "father of our country" looked like.
