I just returned from a day at Illinois' edtech conference called ICE 2019. I attended a keynote, went to 4 breakout sessions, then presented. I put my thoughts together in this animated sketchnote using Do Ink #animation app. I made the ICE spinning animation last night while I was prepping for the conference. I've seen other sketchnoters at #ISTE18 prep their art ahead of time. I knew I would want the ICE logo, so I took my time and made it rotate through flipbook animation techniques.
All of the conference resources are found here. |

I had two takeaways from the keynote. One was Shelly Terrell's good scent stick. She acknowledged students who worked heard and kept trying by rubbing the scent stick on their hands. I like that she found a away to reward students who try even when the stresses of failures and lack of persistence plagued many of the kids. The other message I took away was from Luis Perez talking about disabilities. He reframed the conversion to say that obstacles in a person's life may disable them from being able to do things. He also said not to try to teach to the "average" student. They don't exist in life, only stats books.
