"It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before." ~ How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
Goal of this lesson:
I want my students to experience a community in our art room as we work together to recreate this scene digitally in a class collaboration. Here is the plan...
1. Creative Colorful Costume:
2. Hearts three sizes bigger
3. Combine photo and costume
4. Share the Do Ink composition file
5. Create the background with Group
PHYSICAL ART ALTERNATE IDEA: The background could also be done physically as a limited color palette painting on paper that each group collaboratively draws and paints. Then, the dry painting can be photographed for the animation.
6. Put the Whos in Whoville
Students working:
Student Work: View the Gallery
Finished Collaboration
Resources:
"Well in Whoville they say, the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day."
